South Devon Highway speeding, village rat run closure and…

Speeding on the South Devon Highway, an experimental traffic order for Highweek, and changing the speed limit and redesigning a junction on the Milber back road will all be discussed by councillors this morning.

The Teignbridge HATOC is meeting in Newton Abbot to discuss and approve a range of highways issues relating to the District.

The meeting will include a presentation from Devon and Cornwall Police on how they are enforcing the 50mph on the South Devon Highway, which follows concerns raised by councillors at the last meeting that the average speed on the road was 66mph.

A bid to end a South Devon village rat run also goes before councillors on Thursday as the committee is being urged to approve a range of measures to end traffic chaos in Highweek, one of which is stopping traffic from turning into Whitehill Road from Exeter Road.

But a suggestion to cut the speed limit on St Marychurch Road from 40mph to 30mph and to redesign the junction at Aller Brake Road has not been backed by officers and to redesign the junction at Aller Brake Road, who say it is not necessary.
