Cyclist Lauren Dolan has been injured in a crash less than 48 hours after taking bronze at the World Road Racing Championships in Yorkshire.

Police are appealing for witnesses of the incident, which happened between Teignmouth and Dawlish around Tuesday lunchtime and left Dolan, 20, with collarbone and shoulder injuries.

On Sunday afternoon Dolan, from Bickington near Newton Abbot, had played a key role in Great Britain’s surprise third place in the Mixed Team Trial Relay at Harrogate.

The track and road international had only just recovered from a fractured elbow, sustained when she was knocked over by a motorbike outrider during June’s Women’s Tour of Brittany.

Her career has been hampered by injuries.
