A 65-year-old man has died after being hit by a train in Devon.
The line between Exeter St Davids and Newton Abbot was stopped just before 1am after a collision near Teignmouth railway station.
The lines remained closed for four hoirs.
British Transport police have now confirmed that a man died.
A spokesman said: ‘Officers were called to Teignmouth station at 00.43am this morning following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended however sadly a 65-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
